We would like to thank all the writers who participated in the 2005 contest for allowing us an opportunity to become acquainted with your work. There were many exceptional submissions in fiction and in poetry, and making a selection from the nearly one thousand entries was a very difficult chore for the editors of Mississippi Review. We hope that we have done a good job and found stories and poems of diverse and representative sorts.
